Meet Deborah

I remember thoughts of becoming a therapist when I was trying to decide what my career path would be. It turned out, my life would take me on a journey full of detours and roadblocks. Looking back now, I have now come to the realization I had not lived a life, knew anything about what the world was like, or had the knowledge base let alone the life experiences that allow me to truly understand and empathize with my clients. I cannot say I have experienced everything but it has been a challenge getting to this part of my life.

The lessons learned, both positive and negative, have better prepared me to be an informed and nonjudgmental therapist. These experiences and perspectives allow me to empathize, hold space, provide support as I truly understand my clients in the moment. People are unique in their own experiences, are survivors and very resilient. I strongly believe that our unique life experiences are part of who we are and prepare us for the wonders that are yet to come.

Living this life has taught me that every day is a blessing, every breath is cleansing, and letting go is often the key to living a grounded, promising, and expansive life.

I use a variety of self-care regimens that have been put in place to help support myself while I support you. I enjoy going for walks with my dog in the autumn leaves and seeing the beautiful, vibrant colours. Mother Nature is amazing and this is just one of the beautiful gifts that she shares with us.

I believe music calms the soul and I  am often found wearing headphones. I appreciate the quiet moments, when there is not a single sound around me, allowing for a sense of calm, and the ability to really listen and connect with my thoughts and emotions. It’s amazing what they say when I really take the time to listen.
